The Progression of an Angel Teddy Bear Gift 

Follow the steps as I turn the "bare" bear into a beautiful angel teddy bear gift.

These pictures show the steps that I go through to make the beautiful angel teddy bear gifts.  You will see in the background the tools of my trade.

The beginning - a purchased 12" beige bear

These are the 3 pieces used to make the angel dress, sewn together by my independent seamstress, she sews them together, then I do the rest.

Before fitting the pieces on the bear, I attach a trim around the dress and sleeve hems - usually a rick rack, but it could also be lace or other type of pretty trim.

Once trimmed, the sleeves go on first, held on by a loose straight seam that has been drawn tight, tied in place, then dabbed with just a little hot glue for security.

After the sleeve, the dress is put on.  There are slits where the arms go in, then it is fit in place the same way as the sleeves.

Neck trims are added next, on this one white lace is added over a gold box pleat ruffle.  Both are glued in place in the back.

At the neckline, I add a small bow with two ribbons trailing down the front of the dress.

A halo is added to the top of the head, and angel wings are glued on the back at the base of the neck.

The bear is now done, so on to the next thing, the cross-stitched pillow.  This shows the aida cloth, floss, and cross-stitch chart.

After the stitching is done, and angel is added and the aida cloth is sewn to a backing cloth for form a heart shaped pillow.  The lace and cord trim is added, ribbon and bow at the top.

A loop of ribbon is added to the back of the top for hanging on the bear's arm.

I use a doll sculpting needle to sew the loop to the bear's arm for security.

First two steps are done!
